Construction Site Safety Officer

Looking for a self-motivated, responsible, trustworthy safety professional for full time contract work in Boston, MA. Must have excellent communication skills and comfortable with most technologies. Must be able to communicate and work well with construction manager, foreman, and site crews daily.

Applicant must possess

  • OSHA 30-hour card (within last three years)
  • Has an academic degree in safety, CSP, or CHST
    OR
    Has a minimum three (3) years of prior work history as a safety officer in the construction field

 Experience/Skills

  • Must be able to work on own, independent, travel required in Boston
  • Qualified to recognize safety hazards and take prompt corrective action in the field
  • Experience in safety management of mid to large scale construction operations
  • Extensive knowledge in OSHA 1926 standards and compliance. Must be able to apply standards to work environment through training and communication skills
  • In depth knowledge of fall protection systems. Fall rescue planning, and training in relation to 500
  • OSHA record keeping and audits
  • Experience in written safety program document management
  • Maintain site specific safety program including subcontractor requirements
  • Training skills required in OSHA specific programs, Hands-on, interactive training approach

Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for conducting job site inspections to identify hazards and communicate findings through report writing
  • Daily pre-task plan with foreman or supervisors
  • Deliver weekly toolbox talk to field workers
  • Look ahead at work schedule with project manager and foreman to prepare for new or changing tasks related to safety
  • Monitor stretch and flex program
  • Conduct site safety inspections with the CM, participate in any safety committees sponsored by CM
  • Conduct and prepare accident investigation reports including near misses
