Topic Benefits and Advantages of the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program

Matt Twerdy will be discussing how the Voluntary Protection Program is designed to encourage cooperative efforts between employees, management and OSHA for the purpose of improving workplace safety and health. The VPP concept recognizes that workplace safety and health can be enforced in a compliance atmosphere and can be enhanced in a cooperative atmosphere. OSHA recognizes and partners with work sites that demonstrate excellence in Safety and Health.

Speaker Matthew J. Twerdy, CSP, CHMM, SGE

Matt is the Director of EH&S at Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies Company, located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.  Matt leads a staff of EH&S professionals covering a workforce of 4,000 employees.  In his role at the Windsor Locks Site Matt works with site management at all levels of the organization to maintain world-class EH&S excellence and work with key partners within the broad organizational network to communicate and share program success.  He is a Certified Safety Professional, OSHA Special Government Employee, VPPPA Region 1 Board Member (Mentoring Chair), and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
