Topic The Art and Science of Technology in Safety and Injury Prevention

In today’s working environment, companies and safety professionals have a variety of tools and technology to choose from when evaluating ergonomic risks and implementing ergonomic abatements to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.  But, are we receiving actionable data from these modern tools and is the information we receive useful? This presentation will review some of the most popular types of tools on the market (Software as a Service, Wearable Sensors, and Artificial Intelligence Algorithms) to determine how and when to use each tool appropriately to reduce injury risks onsite.  We will evaluate the pros and cons of each tool and highlight how we can combine tools with complex human interactions to get the best results.

Learning objectives

  • What common types of technology can be used to help safety professionals reduce injuries onsite?
  • What are the pros and cons of these technological injury prevention & ergonomic tools?
  • Is the data from Software, Wearables, and AI actionable?  How do we use it to our benefit?
  • What is the most important factor we must remember when considering the implementation of ergonomic assessment tools and tech?
